Couponé is built privacy-first. This policy explains what we do — and mostly don't — collect, and how your information is handled. Plain language, no surprises.
The short version
- Your gift cards, codes and balances are encrypted on your device. We can't read them.
- We don't sell your data, run ad trackers, or build a profile on you.
- The only thing we ask for today is an email — and only if you choose to join the early-access list.
Information we collect
Couponé is local-first: the cards you store, their codes, balances, notes and history live encrypted on your device — and, if you turn on sync, as ciphertext we cannot decrypt. We never receive them in readable form.
On this website, the only personal information we collect is the email address you submit to the early-access waitlist. Our hosting provider may keep standard server logs (such as IP address and browser type) for security and to keep the site running.
How we use your information
We will not send you marketing spam, and we won't share or sell your email.
- To let you know when Couponé launches, plus the occasional early-access update. That's it.
- To operate, secure and improve the website and the service.
- To respond when you contact us.
Encryption and sync
When encrypted sync is available, Couponé uses a zero-knowledge design. Each record is encrypted on your device with keys derived from a passphrase only you know. Our servers store only ciphertext and authentication verifiers — never your codes, balances, or passphrase. We could not hand over your card data even if compelled, because we never hold the keys.
Third-party services
We rely on a small number of providers to operate: a hosting provider for this website and the sync service, and the app stores for distribution and, in future, subscription billing. These providers process limited data on our behalf under their own terms. Payment details are handled by the app store and never reach us.
Data retention
We keep your waitlist email until you ask us to remove it, or until it's no longer needed for the purpose you gave it. You can ask us to delete it at any time.
Your rights
You can ask us to access, correct or delete the personal information we hold about you (in practice, your email) — just email us and we'll take care of it. The data inside the app is always yours: you can delete it from within the app at any time.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes, we'll update this page and the date above. Continuing to use the service after a change means you accept the updated policy.
